‘Root cause for China’s take on JeM chief lies in border issue with India: Tibetan PM Lobsang Sangay’

DHARAMSHALA: After China’s stance on Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief Masood Azhar for not declaring him global terrorist, the Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay said that what India is facing from China today is the consequences of post occupation of Tibet. Sangay was talking to TOI on sidelines of a meeting at Mcleodganj here on Friday.

Sangay said that despite Pulwama terror attack took place just few days back and JeM organization openly claimed the responsibility of this terror attack that took the lives of about 40 Indian Jawans, the China is still defending Masood Azhar. The root cause of this is that India shares borders with China.

“Tibet issue is directly connected to Indian security. At present China shares more than 2000 KMs of border with India. This is the root cause of every problem India facing from China. But when Tibet was free there was no Chinese army on these borders” said Sangay.

China for the fourth time has blocked the move of United Nation to list Massod Azhar as global terrorist.

“Tibet issue is directly related to the security of India. That is why we say that for India’s security and stability Tibet issue has to be resolved” added Sangay.

A senior Pakistan journalist has linked the issue of terrorist Massod Azhar directly with Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. This has triggered a storm but no one from Tibetan community was ready to speak on this controversy.

The Pakistan journalist has directly hinted in his tweet that China is defending Massod Azhar as India was sheltering Dalai Lama against China.

Dalai Lama office when contacted was also unwilling to speak on this issue.

Requesting anonymity few of the leaders said that they would not issue any statement on controversial issues which are not directly related to the Tibetan struggle.

Tibetans have arrived in India in 1959 after Tibet was occupied by China. There are about 150000 Tibetan living in exile at various parts of the world. Majority of them resides in India with their global headquarters at upper Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh.
