Four Georgians break into Siolim house, steal cash, gold worth Rs 9 lakh, arrested

SALIGAO/MAPUSA: Four Georgian nationals have been arrested for theft in Siolim on Thursday. Anjuna police recovered cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 9 lakh and seized a rented car, seven cell phones besides two sim cards from their possession.

One Maria Esabela Fernandes from Bamon Vaddo, Siolim, had filed a complaint on Wednesday that some unknown persons entered her house and committed the theft.

The CCTV installed at the house helped police get vital lead into the theft. Police found three foreigners alighting from a rented car parked outside the house.

"We narrowed down our search to rented cabs and screened over 1,500 vehicles. Upon search and finding mobile location, the car was traced at a hotel in Arpora," Anjuna police inspector Navlesh Dessai told TOI.

Police then kept a watch outside the hotel and apprehended one of the accused. The gang members were identified as Konstantine Chkhaidze, 46, Lura Pirelli, 42, Lasha Gurchiani, 46, and Irakli Tamliani, 33.

Dessai said the foreigners had come to Goa on March 7 and were residing in a rented house at Arpora. The house owner had not provided the tenants' details to police, so an offence has also been registered against him.

The accused used hydraulic cutter, electric grinder, screw drivers, pliers, hacksaw blades, pickaxe, hammer and other tools.

Cops nabbed the gang members identified as Konstantine Chkhaidze, 46, Lura Pirelli, 42, Lasha Gurchiani, 46, and Irakli Tamliani, 33. All the accused were presently residing at Arpora.


The accused used hydraulic cutter, electric grinder, screw drivers, pliers, hacksaw blades, pickaxe, hammer and other tools. PSI Vishwajeet Chodankar is conducting further investigation.


Saligao: Anjuna police on Thursday arrested a gang of four Georgian nationals presently staying at Arpora for house theft in Bamonvaddo Siolim within five hours after the complaint was registered. Police recovered stolen cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 9 lakh. Police also attached one rented car and seven mobile phones and two sim cards.


Anjuna police inspector in a press release has stated that a complaint from Maria Isabela Fernandes a resident of Bamon Vaddo, Siolim, was lodged at the Anjuna police station on Wednesday between 6.30pm and 9.30pm that some unknown accused persons affected entry into the house of the complainant by break opening the rear door and committed theft of gold items by breaking the cupboard following which they started intensive patrolling and finally nabbed the gang of four Georgian nationals who are identified as Mr Kinstantin Chkhidze, 46, Laura Pirelli, 42, Lasha Gurchiani, 46, and Irakli Tamliani, 33, years all presently staying at Arpora. Police recovered one rented car, seven mobiles and two sim cards.


Police further said that the accused used one hydraulic cutter, one electric grinder, screw drivers, pliers, hack saw blades, pick axe, hammer, cutters and several other house breaking equipments. Further investigation is in progress under investigating officer PSI Vishwajeet Chodankar.
