Nagpur: The Nagpur University (NU) on Thursday formed a 12-member panel comprising Senate members after they raised the issue of non-payment to paper setters, moderators, and valuers besides the misuse of these funds by confidential and exam sections.
Vice-chancellor SP Kane set up the panel though the issue was not on Senate’s agenda. Members Manmohan Bajpai, Vishnu Changde, Ajiet Jachak and Rajendra Bhoyar had raised the issue. Following demand for an inquiry and filing of police complaint from Bajpai and Changde into misuse of funds, Bhoyar suggested setting up a panel.
Jachak raised the problem of embarrassment teachers face while claiming their dues. “Teachers are made to stand in queue like jail. This is their insult and there has to be better system,” he said.
Before this, the house was discussing underutilization of medical facilities to hostel students and non-availability of qualified doctors.
VC Kane said the committee would work on modalities to improve the health centre for hostel students, how transparency can be maintained in exam funds and timely disbursal of dues.
Baban Taywade, Shakeel Sattar, Dilip Kawadkar, NU health officer and others are also part of the panel.
