BJP team meets Poonam Madam, Rivaba Jadeja

Rajkot: In a bid to feel the pulse of voters on the ground, the 3-member BJP team comprising Union minister Mansukh Mandavia, Raman Vora and Rajkot mayor Bina Acharya were in Jamnagar on Friday. The 1-day exercise aimed at finalizing a candidate by taking opinion of party workers of all the assembly constituencies that fall under Jamnagar parliamentary constituency. Wife of cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, Rivaba Jadeja, who has recently joined the party also remained present in the exercise. However not revealing if she too is an aspirant, she said she will go by the party’s decision.
After the meeting Rivaba ducked questions on her possible candidacy and said: “The team only asked me about what development work has done and what more is required to be done.”
According to sources, a section of party workers are upset with the working style of the sitting MP, Poonam Madam, while some others have suggested fielding a patidar candidate to give Hardik Patel a tough challenge for the seat. Jamnagar seat has equal number of voters from Aahir, Muslim and Patel communities. Madan is believed to have enjoyed the support of Ahir, Patidar, Satvara and other upper cast voters.
After meeting the senior BJP leaders, Madam told media persons that she met them as a ticket aspirant and also a party worker. “I have expressed my views regarding the work I have done,” she said.
