Congress promises increase in healthcare spending, Healthcare Act if voted to power
Cherrupreet Kaur | TNN | Mar 15, 2019, 15:17 ISTRaipur: Congress president Rahul Gandhi, said in Raipur, Chhattisgarh that his party will bring about a Healthcare Act, if voted to power. He promised to provide minimum healthcare to all Indians and increase the healthcare expenditure by 3 per cent of the country's GDP.
The Congress president interacted with healthcare professionals starting from 'metanins' to specialized doctors in a National Convention on Healthcare For All programme on Friday.
At the event Gandhi highlighted the three national agendas and Congress party's considerations, "There are three things that any government in the 21st century will provide and in India we have to fix the problem of unemployment, have to provide low cost; high quality of education for youngsters and ensure citizens are provided proper healthcare. These are three non- negotiable things for me. If we do not do all of these we will not be successful."
"Healthcare in a sense, is a foundation, so we've to ensure that it is built firmly, which will eradicate poverty."
During the one to one interaction at the convention with 'Asha workers', Gandhi assured to regularize all contractual health workers including Asha, Anganwadi and helpers in a gradual manner.
