New Delhi: Ahead of the
Lok Sabha polls, chiefs of 23
opposition parties, including Congress, have moved a petition in the Supreme Court seeking 50% Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (
VVPAT) verification in every assembly and parliamentary seat.
The 23 parties, include six national parties and 17 regional parties electorally representing 70 to 75% of the electorate in the country. The move assumes significance in view of the fact that the ensuing polls are expected to be a bitter battle between the ruling BJP-led NDA and the opposition. The petition is expected to come up before a bench led by Chief Justice of India
Ranjan Gogoi.
