Union has a membership of 2.20 lakh workers in the city

Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) State vice-president K.S. Mohan Kumar has said that the union would work for the success of Mantri Rajasekhar, president of INTUC district unit and AP Congress Committee coordinator, if he is given the Congress ticket for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency.

The INTUC has a membership of 2.20 lakh workers with major presence in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and other industries in the city. The Visakhapatnam District unit of INTUC had unanimously resolved to support the candidature of Mr. Rajasekhar and AP INTUC leadership was also in favour of his nomination for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat, Mr. Kumar told the media here on Wednesday. Similarly, the INTUC was also seeking the nomination of INTUC leader N.V. Srinivas by the Congress for the Rajamahendravaram Assembly seat. He said that the AP Congress Committee chief was intimated of the INTUC resolution on these two candidates and hoped that a favourable decision would be taken by the party. The INTUC had stood firmly behind the Congress party, even when many senior leaders in AP quit the party, post-bifurcation of the State.
