A teacher has been accused of punching a high school student twice in the head, leaving the 14-year-old with a swollen and bruised face.
The Year 9 student - who wished to remain anonymous - was standing on the school oval at Kawana Waters State College, south of the Sunshine Coast, on Tuesday when the teacher allegedly punched him and pulled at his hat and hair, The Courier Mail reported.
The alleged altercation reportedly followed a verbal disagreement between the pair.
A person known to the student told the publication the alleged attack left the boy with swelling and bruising to his face and jaw.

The teenager was reportedly left with significant trauma and has yet to return to school.
Kawana Waters Police Station officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Mark Cordwell said the child protection unit was investigating the alleged incident.
The investigating officer told Daily Mail Australia 'at this stage of the investigation it is inappropriate to make any comment'.
A Department of Education and Training spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the department treated all matters involving students seriously.
'Departmental employees are expected to interact professionally with students at all times.
'Parents and students can be confident that if an allegation of harm is reported in a state school, it will be dealt with immediately and in a sensitive manner.'
The spokesperson added that guidance, support and counselling services are available for students and staff when necessary.
However, the department declined to comment further because of 'confidentiality reasons.'
More than 1,500 students are enrolled at Kawana Waters States College, with grades from kindergarten through to Year 12.
Daily Mail Australia contacted The Queensland Teachers Union, but it would not comment.
