Vadodara: BJP observers faced the problem of plenty while holding discussions in Godhra on Thursday with party members for the Panchmahal Lok Sabha seat. Two-term MP from the seat Prabhatsinh Chauhan is amongst the frontrunners for the seat.

The BJP observers’ team included Sayajigunj MLA Jitendra Sukhadia, Parakramsinh Jadeja and Hemali Boghawala. The team heard representatives from the various assembly segments of the Lok Sabha seat.

While most left it up to the party to decide a suitable candidate, several names were thrown up by the party members during the series of discussions. Apart from Prabhatsinh, Shehra MLA Jetha Ahir, Lunawada MLA Ratansinh Rathod as well as former MLAs Mansinh Chauhan, Fatesinh Chauhan, Tusharsinh Maharaul and Nimisha Sheth are also eyeing a ticket from the constituency. Mahisagar BJP president JP Patel is also in the race.

The caste equations are however, tilted in favour of Chauhan as the constituency is dominated by OBC castes to which he belongs. A large number of persons supporting him had also remained present during the process.

The process to take sense for the Dahod parliamentary seat was also taken up on Thursday by BJP observers for the constituency. Union minister Jaswantsinh Bhabhor is believed to be a clear frontrunner for the seat reserved for the scheduled tribes.
