Sandhu turns down councillor’s resignation

Ludhiana: Mayor Balkar Sandhu has not accepted the resignation sent by Congress councillor Gurpreet Singh from ward number 94 and has also convinced him to continue working as councillor from his ward.

The councillor was angry because officials were not starting the work of replacing ordinary streetlights with LED lights in his ward. He had resigned on Tuesday. Congress MLA Rakesh Pandey also tried to pacify the councillor.

The councillor was requesting the officials to get LED lights installed in his area. Before that, he had also raised the demand of replacement of existing poles. However, nothing was being done on ground. Consequently, the councillor thus sent his resignation. As of now, the councillor admitted that he has been convinced by Mayor and MLA.

It was only a few days ago when the company given the work to replace ordinary lights had started doing so.
