The annual rate of inflation based on Wholesale Price Index increased to 2.93 per cent in February as compared to 2.76 per cent in the corresponding month of previous year, the government said on Thursday.
The rate of inflation based on WPI food index consisting of from primary articles group and food product from manufactured products group increased from 1.84 per cent in January 2019 to 3.29 per cent in February 2019, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
On Tuesday, the government said that annual retail inflation moved up in February to 2.57 per cent from 1.97 per cent in January. It was 4.44 per cent in February 2018.
The consumer price index for urban areas was 3.43 per cent compared to 4.52 per cent in February 2018. For rural areas, the CPI was 1.81 per cent for rural areas in February 2019 compared to 4.45 per cent in the same period of last year.
