Indore: Inter-state gang dealing in illegal firearms busted

Indore: Inter-state gang dealing in illegal firearms busted

Indore: City crime branch on Wednesday arrested eight persons including a dhaba owner involved in supplying and buying unlicensed firearms. About 20 firearms and 11 live cartridges were also recovered from them. Other persons involved in the crime are being searched. A tip-off was received that resident of Lalbagh, Dhar, is involved in supplying illegal firearms and has come to city to deliver them. After the information, joint team of crime branch and Pandharinath police station arrested accused Ter Singh Sikaligar of Dhar and recovered one revolver and three live cartridges.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (crime) Amarendra Singh, accused Ter Singh was earlier involved in supplying illegal firearms in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Presently, he works as lock and key maker in Lalbagh Dhani in Dhar. He supplied firearms from his shop secretely.  Ter Singh was earlier arrested by Juni Indore and Betma police station staff in similar connection. Following the lead given by him, crime branch team arrested Dewal Pawar of Hasalpur village in Manpur and recovered a country made pistol with a live cartridge. Deval had bought the firearm for Rs 25,000 from Ter Singh.

Another accused named Mohammad Hanif of Patel Nagar was arrested following the lead given by accused. Five country made pistols and two live cartridges were recovered from him. Mohammad Hanif runs a dhaba called Rajasthan in Mangaliya from where he supplied fire arms.  After questioning Hanif, crime branch arrested Mubarik Khan of Dewas from Bhanwarkuan and recovered two firearms and live cartridges.

Later, joint team of crime branch and Kanadiya police station arrested accused Salim Khan of Dewas. Two firearms and a live cartridge were recovered from him. Salim is a driver of dhaba owner Hanif and used to supply firearms to people.  Other accused named Bherulal of Ujjain was also arrested from Kanadiya area with two firearms and live cartridges. Bherulal met accused Salim and Mubarik in jail few months ago. After being released from jail, the trio bought illegal firearms. Accused Israr of Mangaliya was later arrested with a country made pistol and live cartridge. The crime branch team arrested Manoj Nirgunde of Hawa Bungalow following the lead given by accused Ter Singh Sikligar. Two country made pistols were recovered from him.
