Mathi Ganesh, a native of Pakkothipalayam, has claimed that he had petitioned Tamil Nadu DGP in 2016 against a gang which had been blackmailing women for sexual favours. However, according to Mr. Ganesh, the police did not take up his complaint.
Speaking to The Hindu over phone, Mr. Ganesh said that his wife was a victim of a network backed by a few police personnel. She is missing since 2016.
“A sub-inspector, who worked in Kottur station, had been helping the network. I had filed a complaint against a relative of Vasanthakumar, 24, one of the accused in the current case. When I approached the All Women Police Station, the sub-inspector used his influence not to register an FIR for a woman missing case but issued a Community Service Register report,” he alleged.
He said that the gang that was busted by the police following the complaint of a 19-year-old girl, was a part of the network which has been operating in and around Pollachi for a very long time.
According to Mr. Ganesh, he has been taking care of his 12-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter after his wife went missing.
