And if you don’t believe that, according to Hinduatan Times, there are 273 people in the Ludhiana (East) assembly constituency who are 118-years-old.
Ludhiana has topped Punjab with 863 centenarians on its voters’ list, and it’s normal that the number of over 100-year-old voters has put the election officials in trouble. This accident came to light when Punjab chief electoral officer (CEO) SK Raju said the state has 5,916 voters who are aged above 100 and this occurred due to errors.
After the reveal, administration decided to conduct physical verification. After the physical verification 35 of a total of 57 centenarians turned out to be long dead. Ludhiana deputy commissioner Pradeep Agrawal said, “Most of these instances system errors during compilation of data by election registration office. These errors are being corrected after verification.”
An election department officials said that the mistake happened due to some software mistake, “For example, the 273 voters shown on the list as 118- years- old are actually first-time voters. They are born in 2000, but on the list they are shown as born in 1900,” the official said.
