Drug consignment seized by Fatehgarh sahib police

PATIALA: The Fatehgarh Sahib Police on Wednesday arrested three persons in separate operations and recovered banned drugs including three quintals of poppy husks.


The police made the seizures during intensive patrolling after the election model code of conduct set in. The seizures include three quintals of poppy husk and , Rs9 Lakh in cash, 200 grams of gold, 11 gram of heroin, 130 boxes of illegal liquor and 1100 intoxicant tablets. SSP Amneet Kondal said the police had intensified patrolling across the district during which the said recoveries were made. The SSP said the police had set up a check post at where during checking of vehicles police signalled a truck number PB-10CJ-1691 to stop. Even as the driver fled, his accomplice identified as Mukhtiar Singh was arrested. During the search of the vehicle, the police recovered 3.05 quintal poppy husk kept in 16 bags.


In the second crackdown SHO Mulepur while checking a PRTC bus recovered Rs 9 Lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing 200 grams from one Deepak Bhardwaj resident of 662, sector 9 Panchkula. As Deepak could not produce any document as proof, the case was handed over to the income tax department at Patiala. In the third operation, the Badali Ala Singh police recovered 1100 intoxicant tablets and arrested one person identified as Raj Kumar alias Raju resident of Nabha, who peddled the intoxicants. Besides, the CIA staff Sirhind arrested one Gurinder Singh alias Angrej resident of Bhamarsi village with 11 grams of heroin. In another crackdown, the Amloh police recovered 130 boxes of liquor meant for sale in Haryana.
