Water balloon rage: 12-year-old boy stabs teen

ULHASNAGAR: Ahead of Holi, a 12-year-old boy stabbed a 16-year-old boy with a knife after the victim scolded the accused for hurling a water balloon at him and another child.

The teen has been admitted to KEM Hospital with multiple injuries. Following the incident, the Ulhasnagar police arrested the minor accused and sent him to the Bhiwandi remand home. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Hanuman Nagar area in Ulhasnagar 1.


Police said when the victim scolded the accused and warned him not to hurl water balloons, the accused rushed into his house and came toward the victim with a knife. He stabbed him on his abdomen and chest and fled the spot. Passersby who had witnessed the incident rushed the victim to Central Hospital in Ulhasnagar from where he was shifted to KEM Hospital as his injuries were serious.


Talking to TOI, the victim’s older brother said, “My brother only asked the accused not to hurl balloons and said if he continued to do so, he would report him to the police.”


The victim is from a poor family and works at his uncle’s shop. Police said the accused is a Class 8 student and his father is an autorickshaw driver.
