MUMBAI: Police arrested four youths for molesting a 26-year-old woman on Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road in Powai around 9.30pm on Sunday. They threatened to kill her brother when he intervened. The Mulund resident was returning home with her brother and friend after partying at a restaurant. Police got CCTV footage which showed the four fleeing towards Vikhroli after committing the offence.
Suraj Yadav, Kailash Yadav, Satish Gupta and Maka Gupta (all in their mid 20s) from Vikhroli’s Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar allegedly touched her. “There was no information on who the four were and from where they were. A team studied the footage and with the help of the grabs searched Powai and Vikhroli Parksite, and nabbed them when they arrived at Powai Plaza on Tuesday,” said an officer of Powai police station.
In the complaint, the victim said, “We were at Powai Gardens bus-stop when the four came close, touched me and made lewd gestures while we were getting down from JVLR bridge. When my elder brother intervened, they pushed him and threatened to kill him if he argued with them. After pushing my brother, they fled away from the spot.”
DCP (zone X) Navinchandra Reddy confirmed the arrests. The four were booked under IPC sections and remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
