Patna: Team to monitor code violation

PATNA: The Patna district administration has decided to allot fields or grounds to political parties for poll meetings on a first-come, first-served basis.

Patna DM-cum-district electoral officer Kumar Ravi has authorized sub-divisional officers to issue no-objection certificate to political parties for election meetings, use of vehicles for electioneering, procession and demonstration. To provide a single window system for all political parties, the Election Commission of India has launched a mobile application, ‘Suvidha’, where parties can seek no-objection certificate from the authorities concerned for campaign work.

“If a political party or a candidate wants to book a field or ground for political rally and gathering, they have to take no-objection certificate from sub-divisional officers. The permission will be given on first-come, first-served basis. In case of procession, the parties will have to inform the local police station about the routes,” he said.

The DM on Thursday also constituted a team for effective implementation of the ECI’s model code of conduct for Lok Sabha election in all 23 blocks and six sub-divisions in the district.

The DM said in case of violation of model code of conduct, the sub-divisional officers will get in touch with the local police station.

Ravi said, “No political parties can put flex, posters, banners and canvas at public places without taking permission from the district administration. For the vehicle movement of star campaigners, permission will be given by the chief electoral officer.”
