CHENNAI: The Triplicane police have registered a sedition case against Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) party leader T Velmurugan for his inflammatory speech against the Tamil Nadu government at a protest programme held near Chepauk Guest House on April 29, 2018.

Triplicane police inspector Murali registered the sedition case against Velmurugan after the station received a reminder from the commissioner’s office two days ago.

Murali’s predecessor, Mohan Das, who was transferred from the station a month ago, had failed to act on a letter from the police commissionerate asking to register a sedition case against Velmurugan. Mohan Das is in trouble for his failure to obey the instructions of the higher ups.
