Police are on Thursday are hunting suspects in the brazen murder of a reputed mob boss outside his home in New York.
Police say the victim was Francesco Cali, the reputed head of the New York Mafia's Gambino family.
Cali, also known as Franky Boy, was gunned down late Wednesday in front of his Staten Island Home, according to police, with his wife and children reportedly inside.
The 53-year-old was reportedly shot at least 6 times in the torso and then run over by a blue pickup truck driven by the shooter or shooters.
He was rushed to a Staten Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to the New York Post, Cali is the first mafia boss killed since John Gotti ordered the murder of Paul Castellano, who was gunned down outside Sparks Steakhouse in Manhattan in 1985.
Gotti was convicted of racketeering and Castellano's murder in 1992.
The Gambino crime operation is one of the five historic Italian-American Mafia families in New York City.
