The post of IIM-L full-time director fell vacant after the death of Ajit Prasad. He had passed away on October 31, without completing his full term. RK Srivastava was made director in-charge on November 2, 2018.

However, Srivastava resigned on February 18 this year, citing health reasons. Thereafter, BK Mohanty took charge on February 25 as director in-charge.

A few academicians raised eyebrows over the interviews as they were held a day after the model code of conduct came into effect on Sunday.

But those in the board of governors said the date of interview was fixed much before the poll notification.

“The appointment of new director does not amount to violation of code of conduct because the interview was scheduled much earlier,” said a senior official at IIM-L.
