MP gauges mood of voters with 7 questions

Ghaziabad: Representatives of local BJP MP Gen VK Singh (retd) are going to every household in Ghaziabad with a questionnaire, asking people how the former Army chief has performed as a politician in the past five years.
The survey is aimed at gauging the mood of Singh’s constituency before the party chooses the candidate for Ghaziabad.
A team of 45 volunteers is out on the field visiting households in each of the five assembly segments that make up Singh’s parliamentary constituency with a set of seven questions in Hindi with multiple choice answers to choose from.
‘Do you know who is the MP from Ghaziabad’, ‘Are of aware of the work done by your MP’, and ‘What kind of MP you want for Ghaziabad — (a) highly educated (b) patriot (c) no criminal record (d) one who could fight corruption (e) one who works for people and (f) all’ . These are some of the questions the voters are facing.
“We have already finished our survey in Sahibabad assembly constituency. And the survey is currently on in Ghaziabad assembly constituency,” said Paramveer Singh, a member of Singh’s IT team.
“In Ghaziabad assembly constituency, around 6,500 households have been sur-veyed and we intend to cover 1.25 lakh households in the remaining assembly constituencies within 15 days,” he added.
When TOI asked a voter in Raj Nagar who was approached by Singh’s team, he said he had little interest in politics.
“I really did not know the name of our MP and what work he did in Ghaziabad and honestly ticked no,” said Sonu.
Sanjay Mishra, a political science professor at MMH College in Ghaziabad said, “A survey of this kind definitely helps candidate to pinpoint on local issues. After analyzing the results of the survey, the candidates will get to know about the areas where they are weak and it will be put to good effect when they campaign in these localities.”
