Indians value friendship with Russia: Governor

‘Tomsk and TS have potential to cooperate in many sectors’

India maintained good relations with the both the erstwhile USSR and the present Russian Federation on a people-to-people and region-to-region basis, said Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan here on Wednesday.

He was interacting with a business delegation of small and medium enterprises of Tomsk region led by its Deputy Governor H.E. Andrey Antonov.

He said Indians valued the friendship with Russia very much and the relationship between the two countries has been built step by step. The cooperation and exchange of trade between the two countries ranged from toys to atomic energy sector.

Mr. Narasimhan said he was happy to know that the visiting business delegation had already signed an MoU with the Telangana government in the area of healthcare.

The Governor said the Tomsk region of Russian Federation has one of the best educational institutions and universities and that both Tomsk region and the Telangana government could cooperate in the field. Both regions could develop good business and economic relations on a region-to-region basis and explore the potential to develop tourism on a people-to-people basis.

Mr. Antonov informed the Governor that they could collaborate with India in manufacturing, construction, education, energy and health sector and they were open for cooperation in other sectors too.

He said Indian students were choosing Tomsk region for studies in medicine and hoped that the goodwill and cooperation between the two regions would prosper in the coming days.
