‘The ruling party is making desperate attempts to remain in power’

Accusing the Telugu Desam Party of making ‘desperate attempts’ to retain the power in the coming Assembly elections by ‘hook or crook’, YSR Congress Party city committee president Malla Vijay Prasad on Tuesday said that the Chandrababu Naidu government had allowed the access of voters’ data by a private firm for political gain.

‘Against SC verdict’

“IT Grids is in possession of personal data pertaining to voter IDs and financial details of 3.5 crore people in the State, which is an utter violation of the Supreme Court judgment,” he told the media here, while referring to the ‘data theft’ controversy, adding that winning the elections would be a ‘cakewalk for the YSRCP’.

He further alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was changing his stance over the row again and again and pointing fingers at the YSRCP.

“Mr. Naidu initially claimed that the government had no role in the ‘data theft’. Then he said that the private firm was hired to collect information on behalf of the TDP. Being the ruling party, the TDP has access to all the data which it had shared it with the private company. Now, it is trying to shift the blame on the main Opposition party,” he said.

The Tegu Desam government was involved in the deletion of the names of voters who were against it, in a systematic manner over the last three years, the YSCRP leader claimed.

‘Enrol genuine voters’

Mr. Vijay Prasad appealed to the Election Commissioner to undertake campaigns all over the State to enrol the genuine voters whose names were missing from the electoral roll.

“People of the State are keen on giving a chance to the YSRCP as they have understood well what the TDP government has done for them,” he said.

Mr. Vijay Prasad opined that the TDP had launched a false information campaign in Visakhapatnam last time saying that YSRCP honorary president Y.S. Vijayalakshmi’s success would lead to a faction culture spreading to the city from Kadapa. “The voters are no longer ready to be deceived by the TDP again,” he added.

YSRCP formation day

Earlier in the day, YSRCP leaders hoisted the party flag by and garlanded a bust of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at the Maddilapalem party office, marking the 9th formation day of the YSRCP.

Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency in-charge K. Satyanarayana Raju, coordinator M.V.V. Satyanarayana and district president Tynala Vijay Kumar were present ion the occasion.
