District Collector and Election Officer K. Bhaskar, Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha and Superintendent of Police Attada Babujee on Tuesday held a meeting with representatives of political parties on upholding the model code of conduct ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Prior permission

Permission should be obtained to hold public meetings, and the expenditure on such meetings should be recorded in a transparent manner by opening a bank account at the time of filing a nomination, the representatives were told.

Permission should be obtained for vehicles to be used in campaigns. All paid news and cost of advertisements would be made part of the election expenditure. Campaigns should rise above caste and community and should desist from personal allegations, Mr. Bhaskar said.
