The government has appointed former Income Tax Commissioner R. Mohan as private secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Mr. Mohan, an IRS officer, succeeds M.V. Jayarajan who resigned as the Chief Minister’s private secretary after the Communist Party of India (Marxist) nominated him as the district secretary of the party in Kannur. Mr. Mohan is the brother of former Chief Secretary Nalini Netto, who resigned as the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary on Tuesday. Mr. Mohan is a senior consultant at the Gulati Institute of Finance and Taxation and a visiting fellow at the Centre for Development Studies.
Netto’s resignation
Earlier, Mr. Vijayan lashed out at the media for “distortion of facts” in the reporting of the resignation of Ms. Netto from the post of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
“She resigned as a matter of propriety as Mr. Mohan is her brother. The media could have known this had they inquired properly,” he said.
