PUNE: Diet plays a very important role in diabetics’ lives.

In many cases, to get customised food for diabetes patients is a challenge.

A start-up floated by a 25-year-old intends to do just that. Co-Founder and CEO D-Alive Sarrah Kapasi said her company has brought a range of sauces and salad dressings for diabetics.

Launched last year in October 2018, D-Alive aims at making India friendly for people with diabetes.

Elaborating on this, Kapasi said, “Even when the thought of starting something like D-Alive occurred, we were sure to take this beyond, offering desserts and sweet alternatives.”

“We noticed that mostly what’s available out there in the market are sugar-free desserts or beverages. Their quality is again debatable. There was a lack of everyday solutions. That’s how we came up with sauces and vinaigrettes for people with diabetes, considering it is one of the most widely accepted category. We are much ahead of time and hope to make people with diabetes believe that there can be alternative solutions for each of their food requirements, which was unheard of until recently,” said Kapasi.

She said sauces and vinaigrettes are made with 100-per cent natural ingredients, completely free from all sorts of adulterations, which otherwise is a worry when consumed on a daily basis.

“They are a nutritious mix of jamun and/ or coconut vinegar followed by spices, seeds and herbs known for many medicinal values and anti-diabetic properties. Most variants available in the market are labels loaded with sugars, gluten and ingredient names one cannot even read, leaving them absolutely unaware of what is going in their body. We are making sure that even the oils used are cold-pressed, keeping nutrients intact, which are otherwise destroyed by various extraction methods,” said Kapasi.

She said the sauces are available at affordable prices on online platforms such as Amazon.
