“The Huawei P30 Pro will be powered by the Kirin 980 chipset, but scores show that it is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 855”
Huawei’s latest P30 series flagship phones will be unveiled on March 26th in Paris. The company has been teasing the P30 Pro, which is the top variant, a lot. Alongside this, Huawei will most likely be launching the standard P30 and also the P30 Lite. Now, the top dog P30 Pro has appeared on the benchmarking site Geekbench with some numbers. Looking at the scores, the P30 Pro appears to be in the same league as the Snapdragon 855 and Apple’s A12 Bionic, but still lags a bit behind.
The Huawei P30 Pro will be powered by the latest 7nm Kirin 980 chipset. Huawei has used the same chipset on the Mate 20 Pro and the Honor View 20 as well. This is a powerful chipset, but according to the benchmark scores, it doesn’t match up to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 and the A12 Bionic from Apple. It is close behind the two though, which is a good thing. The Geekbench listing also shows that the phone is using 8GB of RAM and running on Android 9.0 Pie.
The phone listed here carries the model number VOG-L29, which belongs to the Huawei P30 Pro, obviously. We reported earlier today that the same model received certification in Thailand by the NBTC. It also received certifications in Indonesia and Taiwan by the TKDN and NCC, respectively. The certifications also reveal some specs of the phone. However, it’s nothing that we don’t already know.
Taiwan’s regulatory body, NCC, has certified the Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro, while the Indonesian TKDN has certified three variants of the P30, presumably, the P30, P30 Pro and the P30 Lite. As per the listings, the ELE-L29 model number is most likely the standard P30, which comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The VOG-L29 is the P30 Pro, which has 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. It also appears to have wireless charging, not really a surprise. Finally, there’s the MAR-LX2, which should be the P30 Lite. The listings did not include any specifications for this variant.
