Trees have come down, homes left without power and ferries have been cancelled after the storm hit the region.
Flood alerts remain in place after torrential downpours hit yesterday.
And gusts of more than 70mph overnight have caused issues on the roads and public transport networks.
Strong winds are set to continue through the morning with motorists warned that there could be more disruption on the roads.
A weather warning remains in place until 3pm today.

Power cuts
A number of people have reported experiencing power cuts over the course of the evening in North Wales.
People on Anglesey appear to have been particularly hit.
Scottish Power have been approached to see how many homes were impacted by the storm.
Train delays
There are problems on the trains across the North Wales coast this morning due to the wind.
There are delays of up to 30 minutes on Virgin Trains West Coast trains along the route.
Some Transport for Wales services also may not run.
Ferries cancelled
Delays on Irish Ferries between Holyhead and Dublin due to adverse weather conditions.
The 14.10 from Holyhead has been delayed until 17:40. Passengers should check in by 16:30.
The 8.15 was cancelled.
Tree down - Harlech
Stryd Fawr is closed in both directions at the moment due to fallen tree near Twtil.
The road has been closed since 11pm last night ans is expected to remain closed through morning rush hour when work to remove the tree will begin.
Britannia Bridge restrictions
Restrictions are currently in place on the Britannia Bridge due to strong winds.
Matrix signs are set to 30mph and the bridge is closed to motorbikes and caravans.
