MUMBAI: NCP president Sharad Pawar on Tuesday said BJP may emerge as the single largest party after the Lok Sabha polls. However, Narendra Modi may not be in a position to form the NDA government because of lack of majority, he predicted, thus indicating that NDA allies may not favour Modi as PM in case BJP failed to muster up the magic number.

At an event in the city, Pawar justified his decision to not contest the Lok Sabha election from Madha in Solapur district. Stating that he had spent 52 years in electoral politics, he said, “There comes a time when one has to withdraw from politics.”
