Canada visa gets delayed, 24-yr-old man commits suicide
TNN | Mar 13, 2019, 07:16 ISTLudhiana: Upset over his Canada visa getting delayed, a 24-year-old man committed suicide at his house in Kabir Nagar on Tuesday.
Inderjit Singh, a cement company employee, had tied the knot with Komal, a resident of Moga, in November 2018.
Police said the couple wanted to migrate to Canada. “While Komal received her visa, that of Inderjit was still being processed. Komal was scheduled to fly on Wednesday. This left Inderjit upset as he wanted to go to Canada along with his wife,” said a cop.
Sherpur police post in-charge ASI Gurmeet Singh said, “Komal had promised Inderjit that she would speed up the process of his migration to Canada after reaching there. On Tuesday, Inderjit, along with his wife and mother, had gone to a market on Gill Road. After sometime, he returned home, saying he had an important work to attend to.”
When his wife and mother reached home, they found Inderjit hanging from a ceiling fan.
The police have initiated inquest proceeding under Section 174 of the CrPC.
