NAVI MUMBAI: A woman’s body was found on the Mahape-Shilphata Road on Tuesday evening by the police patrolling team of Maharashtra Security Force.
Senior inspector Nitin Gite of Rabale MIDC police station, said, “The woman seemed to be aged between 35 and 40. Prima facie it seems like she was strangulated. There are injury marks on her hands probably due to resistance. The body has been sent to the civic hospital in Vashi to confirm the cause of death. A murder case is likely to be registered.”
Assistant police inspector Manisha Kashid, said, “The woman’s face was smeared with blood. There is a tattoo of a snake and a trident on her right hand. From her attire, she appeared like a daily-wage labourer or a slum dweller. While the water pipeline on the stretch of Mahape-Shilphata Road was being checked by the cops, the woman lying bleeding and motionless in the bushes was found near the pipeline. The Rabale MIDC police was then informed after which we reached the spot and conducted a panchnama.”
