The Samsung Galaxy A90 has been much discussed in past few weeks, having been touted as the headlining act in Samsung’s Galaxy A lineup of devices. While the Galaxy A phones are majorly mid-range devices, they are usually targeted at the premium smartphones segment, which typically sits right beneath the flagship devices. The Galaxy A90, on that note, appears to be closer to the flagship devices, since it has been listed on the official Samsung USA store among what Samsung calls ‘Ultimate Gaming Devices’.
The listing pegs the Galaxy A90 among Samsung’s latest flagships, the Galaxy S10 lineup and the Galaxy Note 9, in terms of its gaming capabilities. It is also mentioned in a promotional page for popular mobile racing game Asphalt 9, which has become a de facto standard for a smartphone to prove its mettle in terms of performance. While the listings do not reveal any further details about the devices, its mention on the same context as the Galaxy flagships state that great performance should be expected of it.
Samsung Galaxy A90 specifications
The Samsung Galaxy A90 has surfaced in various leaks of late, and multiple rumours have suggested that it might feature a rather novel swivelling camera mechanism that lets the rear camera setup double up as a front camera unit as well. It is not yet clear how this mechanism might work, but the Galaxy A90 is touted to not feature a notch on the display. In terms of specifications, it is slated to feature a 6.4-inch display size, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, up to 8GB RAM, 128GB native storage, and a large battery pack to go with.
The Samsung Galaxy A90 is not expected to come cheap, and may be priced close to what the OnePlus 6T presently sells at. The usage of a Snapdragon 7 series chipset may raise a few eyebrows in terms of core performance, but Samsung will hope that it is enough to provide users with strong gaming performance. Launch dates have not been revealed yet, but its inclusion in Samsung’s official websites hint at it being launched soon.
