The Mumbai Port Trust won the team championship in the recently concluded 41st All India Major Ports Table Tennis Tournament held recently at New Mangalore Port Trust here.
A release from NMP said Deendayal Port Trust won the second place and Kolkata Port Trust won the third place in the team category of the tournament conducted jointly by the Major Ports Sports Control Board and NMP Sports Council.
In the men’s singles category, Pankaj Kadoo of Mumbai Port Trust was the winner and GVS Rama Rao from Vishakhapatnam Port Trust was the runner up. The men’s double event was won by Mumbai Port Trust while Deendayal Port Trust was the runners up.
In the 45+ category, G.V.S. Rama Rao was the winner and Mahesh Hingorani from Deendayal Port Trust was runner up. The team from Vishakhapatnam Port Trust was the winner in the 45+ doubles category and the team from Deendayal Port Trust was the runner up.
In the senior veterans’ category, Johan Bosco of Chennai Port Trust was the winner, and Sanjib Some of Kolkata Port Trust was the runner up. The team from New Mangalore Port, represented by M.A. Khan and Sunil Furtado, was the winner of the senior veterans’ doubles category and the team from Chennai Port was the runners up.
NMPT’s Chief Vigilance Officer Srikrishna Karuthuri distributed prizes at the valedictory in the presence of Port Deputy Conservator Capt. S.R. Pattanayak.
