JMM central committee meet on March 18 to decide on Lok Sabha Election candidates

The extended central executive committee meeting of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has been called on March 18 in Ranchi to discuss on the 17th Lok Sabha polls and shortlist the party candidates for the Lok Sabha and Odisha assembly polls.

Announcing this party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said the state bodies of Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar besides the district presidents, secretaries and coordinators will attend the meeting to be held at Shohrai Bhawan in Ranchi.

The JMM has already nominated party president Sibu Soren’s daughter Anjali Soren from Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat in Odisha. The regional party is keen to contest four to five assembly seats too in Odisha in alliance with the congress for which the party would put its seal.

The party would also select candidates to be fielded from four Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand that are expected to be allotted to the party in the grand opposition alliance. The seats are Dumka, Rajmahal, Giridih and Jamshedpur.

Most likely JMM chief Sibu Soren will contest from Dumka, the Lok Sabha seat that he represented eight times and would retain Vijay Hansdak from Rajmahal.

According to insiders, the names of Dumri legislator Jagannath Mahto, Mandu MLA Jaiprakash Bhai Patel and former legislator Mathura Prasad Mahto was doing the round for Giridih Lok Sabha seat. Bahragora legislator Kunal Sarangi is the front runner for Jamshedpur seat.
