In a latest round of tweets, Modi has urged prominent Indian personalities, including cricketers to leverage their following and to inspire their fellow countrymen to come exercise their voting rights.
Addressing the current Indian team’s stalwarts Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Modi wrote: “Dear @msdhoni, @imVkohli and @ImRo45, You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections. When this happens, democracy will be the winner!”

The 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, beginning 11 April and the counting will begin on 23 May.
