In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken to social media to urge citizens of India to participate in the upcoming elections. In a series of tweets, he requested several Bollywood stars to use their popularity to creatively ensure high voter awareness and urge people to vote in large numbers. Besides Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, he also addressed Karan Johar, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone and celebs of the millennial generation like Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Vicky Kaushal.
