Manufacturing, business being affected, says traders’ body

The Gurugram chapter of NCR Chamber of Commerce and Industry has reiterated its long-standing demand for shifting the Kherki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, citing financial losses to entrepreneurs in Manesar.

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, NCR-CCI president H.P. Yadav said the toll plaza has not been shifted despite several assurances by the State government, adversely affecting the manufacturing, trading and commuting activities of almost all the business establishments in the region.

He said hindrances caused due to the toll has significantly brought down productivity and dented earnings.

The traffic jams and payment of taxes for movement of goods in the city are absolutely uncalled far, he said, adding that local industrialists are suffering financial losses as the toll plaza is causing unnecessary delays in transporting men, material and machines, including finished goods to the clients.

Industries with turnover worth billions of rupees are contributing huge revenue to the State and give employment but several years of their earnest requests with regards to shifting of the toll has not yielded any result, said Mr. Yadav.

Damage to industry

He said that representatives from countries like Japan, Korea, China and Denmark had drawn a pathetic picture of traffic jams, congestions and several other disorders due to this plaza and were surprised to account the valuable man-hours lost causing damage to the industry.

Mr. Yadav expressed hope that the government would wake up to the demand of the industrial fraternity, adding that the speedy movement of goods and services were key factors for winning export rewards and growth of businesses.
