Stay calm, recollect concepts and be confident

Biology is the study of life itself, hence it is imperative to understand the concepts and applications thoroughly. It is a theoretical subject, so in-depth studies is a pre-requisite to perform well in the biology paper. Reading content in NCERT textbook is very essential. Also, keep update of current environmental issues.
The question paper is designed to test the knowledge, understanding, application, evaluation and thinking skills of the students. So, after thorough revision of all the topics, students are advised to go through some of the previous years’ question papers. This will give a good exposure to a wide variety of questions. Practice drawing diagrams neatly, with correct labelling as a number of diagram-based questions are usually asked.
On the day of exam, stay calm, try to recollect the concepts and be confident. During the exam, utilize the reading time fruitfully, plan your strategies and organize yourself to attempt the paper.
The paper has four sections — A, B, C and D — comprising of very short answer, short answer I and II and long answer questions respectively. Writing the answers serially is the ideal approach or at least try to attempt all questions from one section together. Wherever necessary, support your answers with diagrams, flow charts and relevant examples.
Manage your time well. Length of the answers should be in accordance with the marks weightage. Abstain from writing long answers in paragraph form, write in points.
In the end, have a quick glance at the paper to ensure that all questions have been attempted properly. Students need to realize that the board marking scheme adheres strictly to the NCERT text material and that they need to follow the same for writing answers and citing examples.
