Ronaldo nets hat-trick to send Atletico packing

Cristiano Ronaldo delivered as he had promised, scoring a hat-trick in the second leg of Juventus’ Round of 16 encounter against Atletico Madrid to complete a remarkable comeback that enabled them to progress 3-2 on aggregate.

After losing the away leg 2-0, Ronaldo scored with headers either side of half-time in the second leg before converting a penalty late in the match to complete the turnaround.

In another Round of 16 encounter on Tuesday, Manchester City had six different scorers in their 7-0 win against Schalke as they progressed to the quarters 10-2 on aggregate.

Top seeds defeated at Indian Wells

The world no. 1 in both the men’s and the women’s section lost out in Indian Wells as Novak Djokovic was defeated by Philipp Kohlschreiber and Belinda Bencic got the better of Naomi Osaka. The women’s world no. 2 Simona Halep also crashed out, as she was defeated by Marketa Vondrousova.
