Three booked for molesting and assaulting woman near Gurugram

Three persons, including a woman, were booked for molesting and assaulting a 35-year-old woman on Monday evening, police said.

According to police, the incident took place on Monday evening when the woman was returning home after tending to her cattle. The suspects allegedly cornered her in the fields away from the village in Farrukhnagar.

In her complaint, the woman stated that the three suspects, all of whom are from the same village as her, often passed lewd comments at her, police said.

“The woman said she was on her way back from the cattle shed when one of the accused tried to force himself on her. His wife and another man joined him when she raised an alarm. The woman alleged that they tore her clothes when she tried to resist their advances. Three of them assaulted her and even threatened her with dire consequences,” assistant commissioner of police (crime) Shamsher Singh said.

Police said they have identified the suspects, all of whom are from the same village as her, and that they will be nabbed soon.

A case under sections 323 (causing hurt), 354 (molestation), 354A (sexual harassment), 354B, (intention of disrobing) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, was registered at the women police station in Manesar on Tuesday.

The victim’s statement was recorded before a duty magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC on Monday and her medical examination was conducted at a government hospital the next day.
