Rubbishing the allegation, Verma said Karamveer's story was false and concocted to avoid the department action he was sure to attract.

"When Karamveer realised that action will be taken against him, he made up a false story. He was also called by the SHO of station to know the exact sequence of event.

"Initially no case was filed against him as the DCP (traffic) had assured that the matter will be solved amicably after Karamveer had apologised," Verma said.

He said the police also have an apology letter written by Karamvir in its possession. "Suitable" action will be taken against him, Verma added.
