Badla box office collection day 4: Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu film earns Rs 26.95 crore.

The critical appreciation for Amitabh Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu-starrer Badla is converting well into box office collections as the film followed up the decent weekend earnings with an average Monday collection at the box office. Directed by Sujiy Ghosh, Badla earned Rs 3.75 crore on the first Monday, which indicate a dip. The film has totalled Rs 26.95 crore in four days at the domestic ticket windows. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures.

“#Badla is very strong on Day 4... A healthy Mon is a clear indicator that the film is here to stay... Lack of major opposition [till #Kesari] will prove beneficial... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 8.55 cr, Sun 9.61 cr, Mon 3.75 cr. Total: ₹ 26.95 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 31.80 cr,” Taran tweeted.

Amitabh has been tweeting about the film and its reaction but a tweet from the veteran actor caught the social media’s attention on Monday. In response to a fan calling the film a success, he responded, “Aapke muh mein ghee shakkar , baadaam, kishmish, mishti doi, sandesh, cham cham, garma garam jalebi , kheer , gaajar ka halua , gulab jamun (for bhi chembur ke) .. aur jitne bhi bache hue mishthaan bhandaar.”

The tweet cracked up Twitter with many asking the star for a party.

In a tweet, film Taran Adarsh had revealed the opening weekend numbers of Pink and 102 Not Out earlier. He wrote on Monday, “#Badla is a success story... Glowing word of mouth converts into footfalls, consolidates its BO status... Metros/multiplexes splendid... Tier-2 cities join the party on Day 2 and 3... Fri 5.04 cr, Sat 8.55 cr, Sun 9.61 cr. Total: ₹ 23.20 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: ₹ 27.38 cr.”

Taran also revealed that Badla has beat the opening weekend collections of Amitabh’s Pink, which had earned Rs. 21.51 crore and ‘102 Not Out’, which minted Rs. 16.65 crore at the domestic box office. “#Badla has surpassed *opening weekend* biz of #Pink and #102NotOut... 2019: #Badla ₹ 23.20 cr 2016: #Pink ₹ 21.51 cr 2018: #102NotOut ₹ 16.65 cr India biz,” he tweeted.

At the box-office,‘Badla’is facing tough competition from the Hollywood flilm, Captain Marvel. Badla revolves around a murder mystery, where Taapsee’s character becomes the primary suspect after she is found with her boyfriend’s dead body and money in a locked room. Amitabh plays a successful lawyer, who has to defend and save her by solving the mystery.

Badla, Amitabh and Taapsee’s second film together, opened to rave reviews and the audience have loved the film as well. “Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla features a slick, relentlessly twisty cat-and-mouse game played with both cat and mouse sitting in the same room, strategising across a table. A slavish remake of the 2017 Spanish thriller Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest), Ghosh’s efficiently assembled film keeps tension at a boil through twist and counter-twist, but the finalé is easy to see coming, principally because we expect certain actors to have the last laugh. Still, there is something to be said for this briskly paced thriller that doesn’t slow down to spoon-feed its audience. Badla never loses grip,” Raja Sen wrote in his review for Badla.

Meanwhile, Hollywood action flick Captain Marvel has collected an estimated Rs 5.6 crores on Monday, the report added. The Brie Larson’s female superhero film earned Rs 40.71 crore in three days. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel is set in 1995 and centres on Air Force pilot Carol Danvers, who joins an elite military team known as Starforce after becoming Captain Marvel. The film stars Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, and Annette Bening.
