The Bharatiya Janata Party State unit on Monday formally requested veteran leader and former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna to campaign for party candidates in the Lok Sabha elections.
BJP senior leader R. Ashok met Mr. Krishna at his residence here. Mr. Krishna reportedly asked Mr. Ashok to prepare a list of constituencies as well as schedule for his campaign.
Later, replying to queries on the possibility of veteran politician H.D. Deve Gowda contesting from Bengaluru North constituency, Mr. Krishna maintained that people would vote on the basis of ideology rather than personality in the Lok Sabha polls.
Denies speculation
Meanwhile, Union Minister and MP for Bengaluru North D.V. Sadananda Gowda denied speculation that he was trying to search for an alternative constituency following the possibility of Mr. Deve Gowda contesting from same seat.
“I have respect towards Mr. Deve Gowda and not fear,” he said.
