Shocking moment a small child is spotted steering a car on a busy motorway while sitting in the driver's lap

Shocking footage has emerged of a small child sitting behind the wheel and steering a car down a busy motorway.
The motorist who filmed the incident said he was passing the other car on the Auckland-Waiwera motorway on Tuesday when he spotted the boy driving.
The child was sitting in the passenger seat without a car seat before moving into the driver's lap and taking control of the steering wheel while driving towards the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

The boy noticed he was being filmed and looked directly at the camera while still in control of the car.
The stunned man who captured the video told Stuff he couldn't believe what he had witnessed.
'You can get your kids driving and stuff like that around the neighbourhood but on the harbour bridge? Probably not,' he said.
The man hasn't reported the incident to police as he was unable to obtain information about the car.

However, the video was shared on Facebook and has attracted attention from shocked individuals.
'If someone smashes into them, that kid's gone,' one user posted.
Similar photos emerged on Facebook in January as a woman witnessed a young child sitting in a mother's lap.
The young child was driving the car while the mother in the drivers seat was using her phone.
'The child was jumping around on the front seat playing with his mother and then he moved over to the driver's seat,' the woman posted.
'The driving started to get a bit crazy and when they changed lanes, I got alongside her and saw the kid driving the car and mum was texting on her phone,' she wrote.
