SUV Of A Different Kind Range Rover Evoque Convertible

SUVs are generally examples of masculinity, however, this one tries to set itself apart from the rest of the clan. How well? Let us find out? The Range Rover Evoque will be on the radar for most premium SUV buyers in the country. However, this particular one has an element of awesomeness attached with it, as it is the first premium SUV Convertible to hit Indian shores.

What Is It On The Outside?

Straight upfront, you might associate this SUV with a normal Range Rover Evoque, however, when looked closer, the roof in the form of canvas does give away the true nature of this vehicle. It is only when the top is folded down that you realize its awesomeness with the wind blowing around you. Of course, the sides do further substantiate this story as in comparison to the normal Evoque, the Convertible only features two doors. With that, the rather raised rear profile is a bit unusual for an SUV but then, again, it is one of the key areas that help attract attention towards it. Its frameless glass windows and black finish touches given to the exterior (be it the bonnet, lower half of front & rear bumper, and the wheel arches) provides the Range Rover Evoque Convertible with a distinctive look. In fact, the inclusion of rear spoiler adds to that extra element of glamour to this SUV and so do the 18-inch black alloy wheels.

How Is It On The Inside?

The layout of the cabin for the Range Rover Evoque Convertible is more or less the same as the normal four-door SUV. Being offered only in the HSE Dynamic trim it catered to a dual tone cabin (black & light brown). The use of supreme quality leather with excellent built quality helps establish the Land Rover’s years old SUV legacy. In fact, the aluminium touches visible throughout the cabin provide this convertible with a premium feel. Feature loaded, it offers a 10-inch In Control Pro Touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, however, there is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. To further enhance the overall onboard experience, the inclusion of a 660 Watt Meridian Surround Sound System compatible with 12 speakers plus a subwoofer does its job really well to provide great sound quality. Its perforated Windsor leather seats are well cushioned as they provide ample of comfort both in the front and the rear. Since this vehicle is a twodoor, gaining access to the rear seats is a big problem. Having said that the lack of space between the front and the rear row means that accommodating an average height individual (anyone above 5’8), will pose to be an issue. For storage, this SUV offers a reasonable boot size measuring 251 litres despite the fact that its foldable roof is accommodated well within the same area.

How Does It Drive?

In this particular department, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible has something different to offer. It, therefore, comes equipped with a new 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine in comparison to its sibling. This 1997cc gasoline power plant, when brought into action, feels very responsive. Its culmination with a 9-speed automatic gearbox on-board ensures that the shifts are easy and smooth thereby making the drive an enjoyable one. However, the moment you encounter a bit of traffic due to its lack of eagerness to shift gears quickly the overall experience can get a bit hampered. In order to retain its go anywhere attitude, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible comes fitted with an All-Wheel Drive System that provides ample of grip to this SUV no matter which terrain you throw it at. With decent handling characteristics, the ride quality does not disappoint either.
