Recalling that the difference between the YSR Congress Party and the coalition headed by the TDP was marginal in the 2014 general elections, Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday called upon booth-level workers to ensure votes of all the eligible were retained and the fake votes deleted.
“We have only five days to get the final list of electors. At the booth level, we have to be very careful. Keep in mind that each vote is valuable and the ruling party is ready to go to any extent to win,” Mr. Jagan said at the ‘Samara Sankharavam’ meeting here. Exuding confidence that the party would be voted to power, he said said the YSRCP was committed to fulfilling all its poll promises including complete loan waiver to the members of the women self-help groups, fee reimbursement and a hike in the social security pension amount. “The TDP is ready to buy voters at the rate of ₹3,000 per vote. Being the booth level workers, you people are expected to take the message of our manifesto to each and every household and explain them the benefits to be doled out by our government.” The workers must understand the use of Form 6 and Form 7 to retain genuine votes and remove fake votes respectively, he said.
Taking potshots at Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for failing to fulfil the promises made to all the sections, Mr. Jagan wondered why Mr. Naidu had started announcing welfare schemes just three months ahead of the general elections.“Our fight is not only with Mr. Naidu but with a section of the media. They are ready to slander our image to project Mr. Naidu as Mr. Clean,” he said.
