OPPO Reno smartphone’s render hints at triple rear cameras and 10x lossless zoom

“The handset has a triple camera setup and is alleged to house the new 10x lossless zoom sensor”

OPPO VP Shen Yiren made a surprise announcement yesterday with the reveal of the new Reno (pronounced as Ri-no) series on his official Weibo account. Needless to say, there was nothing known about the series or its first smartphone since there were no leaks beyond some blurry photos and a video that didn’t reveal much. However, we now have our best look yet at the first renders of the alleged Reno smartphone that will launch next month.

After a video teaser leaked yesterday that didn’t quite help a lot, this HD render seems almost like the official thing and gives us some food for thought regarding the upcoming premium series. For one, the OPPO Reno smartphone will have triple cameras. If you look closely, the third camera has a square cutout which could mean that the handset will have 10x lossless zoom that was demonstrated at MWC 2019.  Also, the dark teal colour looks good even though we can’t figure out if it is a glass or metal build. There’s no rear fingerprint reader either which can only mean that it is on the front. Despite all the leaks for the rear, there’s still no idea of how the front of the OPPO Reno will look like.

In terms of specifications, the OPPO Reno smartphone was spotted on Bluetooth SIG and Singapore’s IMDA certification portal. The Bluetooth listing interestingly revealed that the OPPO Reno had a Snapdragon 710 SoC and a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ display. Besides that, much about the mysterious new series is still under the wraps. Previous rumours and leaks have hinted a Snapdragon 855 SoC for the handset and it is possible that OPPO could also debut two variants with the low-end being powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC. Regardless, the launch is on April 10th and we’re expecting more exciting official as well as unofficial info to come our way in the coming weeks.
