Vadodara: A class X student from Kapurai village near the city committed suicide on Monday evening by jumping in a stepwell.
The student Om Parmar (18) was appearing in the class X exam conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).

On Monday evening, Parmar, son of a civic body employee, left his home without informing family members and jumped in the stepwell. Some locals saw Parmar jumping in the well, but due to the depth, nobody jumped in to rescue him. However, an alert villager informed the fire brigade.

Firemen fished Parmar out, but he had succumbed by then. Sources said that Parmar had not cleared two subjects’ exam last year and was reappearing again to clear them. However, before he could take the exam, he ended his life.

Parmar’s suicide was the third incident of a board exam student from Vadodara ending his life since March 7 when the exams began across the state. On March 8, 18-year-old Udvait Salat hanged himself at his residence in Fatehgunj as he was depressed due to tough examination paper. Salat was appearing in class XII science stream exams.

Another incident was reported on the same evening when a youth identified as Dinesh Parmar (20) ended his life in Chhani. Parmar had filled up form for class XII exam as an external student and was also looking for job.
