Two fire incidents reported in Ambala Cantonmentt within 24 hours

AMBALA: Two incidents of fire were reported in Ambala Cantonment within 24 hours due to short circuit on Monday morning.
In the first case, a footwear outlet in Rai Market of Ambala Cantonment was gutted at around 9.30 pm on Sunday. Shop owner Gurinder Singh said, "At night after closing my shop I was waiting for a customer to hand over footwear at a nearby shop, when I spotted smoke coming out of my shop. I along with others immediately opened the shutter but witnessed massive fire inside the shop. We immediately called the fire brigade."
"The fire was caused due to short circuit in the electricity wires. The stock at my shop was worth Rs 8-10 lakh," he added.
The fire tenders were pressed into service. The fire officials said, "On receiving the information, one fire brigade was sent at 9.41 pm to douse the fire. It took nearly 2 hours to control the fire at the footwear shop."
While in the second case, a house in BC Bazaar, Ambala Cantonment also caught fire due to short circuit and all the household belongings in the first floor of the house were gutted in the fire.
The house belonged to Rajender Kumar. His brother said, "At around 11 am, my family members had gone out for some work when our neighbour witnessed smoke coming out of our house and she raised an alarm after which other people gathered and tried to control the fire. Fire brigades were also called immediately."
The fire official said, "Two fire brigades were presses into service. The fire was controlled but the household belongings on the first floor were gutted."
